61| FOR THE TOUGH DAYS…

Hi! I hope you’re well! And if not, I hope you’re a little better after leaving this space. I’ve been alright. I am taking on life one day at a time y’all. It’s the best that I can do right now. However, I am mindful that I am laying the groundwork for all of my goals and all the good that is on its way. I am not letting the time pass even on those heavy days where I don’t even want to step outside.

Which leads me to today’s post… I just feel like it’s something that could help someone when they’re feeling overwhelmed or can’t stop their mind from being on go. Or for those moments when we question if the Creator has kept us on the Strong Warriors and Tribulations package for another year in a row? I know I’ve felt that way for a few years now. However I can’t act like it hasn’t led to much needed growth. So for that reason alone I am thankful for the great days and the not so great days.

Here are some things that I’ve been doing to help keep me grounded, centered and out of my head on those days.

Reading a book is on the top of this list. I’ve been reading a lot! Since I work from home I read during the downtime or in between calls. I also read throughout the day. If I catch myself overthinking or feeling tense. I will reach for my book and it really does help put me at ease by taking my mind off of things.

I tend to read more than one book at a time. I am currently reading four books. Does anyone else do this?

I finished the one at the bottom and now reading the one on top. It’s my main focus out of all of the books.

Another great book that I am reading is Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

The next one is practicing meditation! Prayer is how I communicate with The Creator and meditation is how I get my answers (also signs) I’ve been doing this for over a month now. I set time aside in the beginning of the day after A* heads to school and during my breaks at work. It really helps silence my mind long enough to obtain mental clarity and tap in.

I’ve been meditating and working with this Argonite crystal for a few days now and love it. It’s great at helping balance your inner emotions. Which helps with mental clarity. Side story: I was pulling Oracle cards earlier this evening (this was written on 1/25/24) and I had this crystal on the table while doing so. One of the cards says word for word “balancing your inner emotions.” And that was confirmation for me that I am meant to be working with it. I felt called to it when I first grabbed it “meditate and keep this crystal nearby.” So I did. I am glad that I did!

The three that I’ve been working with. Rose Quartz, Argonite and Lemurian Crystal.

I’ve gone back to the gym! I got really sick the last time that I went and it kind of made me not want to go back. I also felt intimidated because I really didn’t know much about the equipment and what to do. I decided to use Pinterest and made my own work out routines from different videos etc and went back. Yea, I still needed some help and a fellow gym member assisted which I really appreciated and we laughed about it together. And that was fine. Guess what? I got sick again! Not as severely. On the days that the gym is too full for my liking, I will do work out routines at home (I also have a Pinterest board for at home workouts) and chip away every day. Weight loss is not my goal, I hit and surpassed that target a long time ago. I am focused on toning and building muscle.

And last but definitely not least, journaling! Writing down my thoughts, ideas, visualizations, dreams and more. It’s one of my favorite outlets. It is not the first or the last time that I will be raving about how much I enjoy journaling. And how much it helps me.

Honorable mention goes to walking outside, coloring books, arts and crafts, exercise or moving the body, reaching out to a support person (professional or not) and sleep! Some times lll just go to bed early and start over the next day.

Feel free to add on to my short list. What are some things that you do to help ground/center or just to bring you back to yourself again on those tough days?

I’ll leave you with that ;) Thank you for your time!

Also! Don’t forget to subscribe to be in the know when a new post is live! Also, did you notice the new look? Do you like? I love! It’s perfect for the Spring and Summer days that I am beyond ready for.

60| LIFESTYLE CHANGE

The last few weeks of 2023 were dedicated to my nutrition. I am now living a plant based lifestyle and have been enjoying the ride.

“I’ll probably stop eating meat altogether”, is something I have said more than once throughout my life. My relationship with eating meat has been unique. Meat is something that I just didn’t eat when I was younger. My poor mom. She went through it with how picky I was. Imagine raising a child that didn’t like/want to eat meat, and was also a very picky eater. Maybe this is why when I made that decision, it wasn’t as difficult. I think I’ve been ready for this change but didn’t know it until I made the decision.

One of the reasons why I made the change is because I don’t trust a lot of the food products out there. I also have a medical history and I know and feel that I can benefit from this change. So far I’ve noticed a difference in my energy levels (higher), which I am pleased about as this had been a complaint of mine. I will let you know what else I notice as time passes.

I was aware that the transition had potential of becoming overwhelming for a newbie like myself. Which is why I started off small by removing one meat item at a time. The first meat product that I eliminated was pork. And then beef and then everything all together. This took me less than a month to do. Just pulled the bandaid and dove in.

Another way that I kept myself from getting overwhelmed was that Id plan and cook meals that would feed me for up to three days. I’d make two different meals at a time to switch things up. I am able to make more than one meal with the ingredients used. It helps prevent me from getting bored. *Apps like Pinterest, Tasty, and Note have been great during this transition.

I’ve been taking a hard look at my pantry and have been researching online and in books for proper substitutes and where I can make my purchases. Everything from what I consume to what skin care products and toothpaste I use have been and will continue to be changed. I will share more on this in future posts.

Let me share some of my favorite finds so far:

These cookies are very good. A teeny dry but they’re delicious! I found these at my local Walmart but they can be ordered via Amazon as well. They’re “limited edition” and I hope that changes.

First pancake mix that I have tried since making the change and I really enjoy it. The boxes are small and I had to order a few boxes (thanks to Amazon for their bulk deals). The recipe calls for milk but I substituted it with almond milk. I can see myself in the very near future opting out of purchasing this and just making it from scratch at home. I find that the mix becomes thicker if you let it sit. I prefer it less on the thick side to get more pancakes out of it. I eat it with a small amount of 100% Maple syrup and I add some…

Vegan version of Nutella. I won’t even lie, I had to get used to it lol. Nothing like good ol’ Nutella. But this does the trick. There’s another brand that I want to try. But until then, this one will suffice. I got it from my local Walmart.

Here are some pancakes that I had yesterday. A little burnt haha but they were delicious!

Let me tell you… I’ve been enjoying preparing my meals, and one of the things that I love and brings me joy the most is how colorful my meals are! I am also happier and more confident about what I am putting into my body. I’ll try to be more mindful and take pictures of my meals as I go along to share what I’ve been eating.

Thanks for reading!
