77| PUNTA CANA DAY 1
I’ve recently deactivated my Instagram. The ‘ber’s have started and I felt myself needing to retreat. To pull my energy back to myself and just be. I don’t know how long this leave will last.
If I’m completely honest with you, I felt a way coming back after my quick trip. And realized I should’ve stayed away longer. Not out of selfishness but because I really feel like I needed more time away. More time to center and ground myself. My last night away was very emotional and coming back the next day with those emotions still all over the place was not good. But it was out of my control and I just had to roll with it. I just know I’ll more than likely be going away again before the end of this calendar year.
My time away was filled with a lot of time outside, grounding, cleansing at the ocean, reading my book, and actually enjoying small talk with strangers. Something I rarely enjoy. I left with familiar faces hoping to see me again sooner rather than later. And that was nice. It felt great being back in the mother land. Felt closer to my mom. I had a smile on my face 98% of my time there. I loved it.
Before you can enjoy pictures from my first day in Punta Cana— I was there from 8/24-8/27. Here’s some of the background info…
I booked with Secrets Cap Cana after a lot of hours of research and reading reviews! It was important to find a resort with Vegan options. And this one did have many. One complaint was the lack of vegan breakfast options and the lack of the traditional Dominican cuisine! Hello?? When I go to a resort I want to enjoy the foods the locals enjoy and this one didn’t offer that. I wanted fried sweet plantains one evening and they didn’t have any. Lol, I was shocked. So, I opted to not really eat from the Buffet and would eat at the other restaurants.
But other than that, and the fact that the night life ended early (midnight) at the resort. Everything else was excellent! My favorite? The service! Everyone. Every single person was kind, helpful, personable, and would actually remember your name. That’s what sold me. I never had to wait for a chair at the beach or pool. I paid for the Preferred Club King Swim Up Suite and got my personal Butler who’s name was Phillipe. He was the best! Always checked in on me via WhatsApp, sent me the happenings of the resort every start of the day, and it let me plan what I would do. He wasn’t always with me (I learned other resorts have the butlers by your side the entire time) and I am glad this was not the case here. Anything I needed, all I had to do was ask.
I arrived before the room was ready. So after checking in, I walked over to eat at one of the huts near the pools. The rolls were pretty good, the lasagna was not for me. After I ate I went to check if the room was ready and it was. Phillipe and I walked over and I was near everything. Near all of the restaurants, this natural fruit hut that made all natural smoothies, the pools, had a slight view of the ocean, it was just perfect. I stayed in building 6. There was only another suite on my side/ground level. There was a black cat that I shared the patio with but didn’t mind. I only saw it during my first day.
I received a lot of compliments on my swimwear this trip. This one was the priciest out of the three! It came with a matching scrunchi that I used. I paid the full price but it’s currently on sale! Here’s the link: https://oneoneswimwear.com/products/thalya-one-piece-phi-phi I have a fuller bottom than the model, and it’s a full thong on me. So it’s VERY cheeky.
Don’t forget to return to see the other pictures!
